DEEP CANVASSING: IT WORKS
Our approach—deep canvassing—changes voters’ hearts and minds even when other attempts at persuasion fail.
Voters we connect with through deep canvassing are more likely to cast ballots than their comparable neighbors.
We have developed a systematized canvassing training method that incorporates story workshops, volunteer coaching, individual follow-up, canvassing evaluations, and other innovative methods designed to help our team connect with voters on a deep level that cuts through widespread voter apathy. As a result, our canvassers enter the field well prepared to have meaningful conversations and a lasting impact on the community.
We have a strong track record in Pennsylvania and New York dating back to 2018.
CTC’s pilot deep canvassing campaign helped flip a GOP stronghold district in Staten Island to blue in 2018. In 2020, CTC shifted focus to Pennsylvania, a crucial battleground during the presidential election. That year, unlikely voters that CTC canvassers spoke with voted at a 10% higher rate than their comparable neighbors. In the midterm elections in 2022, our impact was even bigger – the voters we spoke with voted at a rate that was 15% higher than their neighbors!
In the 2024 presidential year, we continued our work to turn out voters where the margins make a difference between winning and losing crucial campaigns including the top of the ticket. Those of us trying to stop Trumpism in 2024 lost. But our work still mattered.
In 2024, voters we spoke with bucked the overall trend toward declining voter turnout.
Publicly available voter records released by the State of Pennsylvania show that 79% of those we spoke to voted—a turnout rate 21 points higher than their comparable neighbors!

Could a Door-Knock Change Your Mind – and Your Vote?
If you had two minutes to talk to President Trump about the job he’s doing for you and your family, what would you tell him?
That’s the ice-breaker question Adam Barbanel-Fried and his fellow canvassers ask people who come to the door. It gives them a quick sense of where the conversation might go, and how much time to invest.
