FAQs
WHAT IS AND HOW DO I EARLY VOTE?
Early voting in PA is not going to your election day polling place. During the early voting period, you will go to a satellite election office or board of elections office and do the following:
- Visit any local satellite election office
- Need to bring: Driver’s license or PennDOT ID*
- Apply for mail-in ballot and wait there to receive ballot
- Complete the ballot on-site and turn it in! Done!
DEADLINE: Oct 27th, 5PM If you have already requested your ballot, you may continue to drop off your ballot and/or request a replacement ballot past the deadline up until election day at the satellite election offices or board of elections office. Your ballot must be submitted by 8PM on election day.
WHAT ARE VALID FORMS OF ID?
If you've voted at your polling place before, you don't technically need to show ID to vote but we still recommend that you bring a form of ID since you may be inactive if you’ve missed an election. If you’ve missed three general elections and been cancelled, it is too late to register to vote anew. Check your voter registration status here.
If you're a first-time voter, inactive voter, or if you moved within Pennsylvania and are voting for the first time at a new polling place, you must show ID to vote. Acceptable forms include:
- Pennsylvania driver's license or PennDOT ID card
- ID issued by Pennsylvania or the US government
- US passport
- US military ID
- student ID
- employee ID
- a confirmation issued by the County Voter Registration Office
- non-photo ID issued by Pennsylvania or the US government
- firearm permit
- a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or a government check that includes your name and address.
If your PA DL doesn’t have your current address, you must bring the secondary non-photo ID above with your current address.
Voters without ID: If you are unable to provide ID above, you will be able to vote a provisional ballot.

WHAT IF I SUBMITTED MY MAIL IN BALLOT APPLICATION AND HAVEN’T RECEIVED IT YET?
Those who have not received their mail-in ballot yet can check the status here. If you have received it at the wrong address and you are not able to get the ballot from that address or it got lost in the mail, you may visit any satellite election office or the board of elections office to request a replacement ballot and submit it the same day. The deadline is November 3rd, 2020.

WHAT IF I’M PHYSICALLY UNABLE TO VISIT MY SATELLITE OFFICE OR POLLING LOCATION?
Those who are physically unable to personally pick up or submit an Absentee or Mail-in Ballot may designate a representative - in writing - to deliver the absentee ballot to the voter and then have that same individual return the completed absentee ballot to the County Board of Elections, by completing a Designated Agent Authorization form or in case of a recent illness, an Emergency Designated Agent Authorization form or pick it up at the county board of elections office.
